Colo. school funding trial wrapping up in Denver
But lawyers representing parents and 21 school districts contended Friday that the state's method of funding education is irrational and leaves poor students at a disadvantage. Attorneys for both sides presented closing arguments Friday.
The Denver District Court lawsuit claims the legislature's funding method violates the state constitution's promise to provide a "thorough and uniform" education system. Gov. John Hickenlooper warns it will cost billions of dollars if the lawsuit succeeds.
The judge in the case is expected to issue a ruling in several weeks.
