Apprenticeship Program Opportunities in Construction Partner with American River College


If you are looking to go back and finish college but can’t give up your job, or you’re thinking about attending college for the first time, then maybe you can benefit from an apprenticeship program. An apprenticeship is a way of getting trained in a particular job skill by working for an employer within your interested field of work. Many apprenticeships involve the employer training you on site, called on-the-job-training, in exchange for your labor for an agreed length of time. There are also some educational institutions that work together with employers to not only teach a skill to students in an organized manner, but to be able to offer some pay at the same time.

“San Juan Reads,” New Summer 2010 Program Being Offered


Want to make summer reading and writing fun for your elementary school student this summer? Then hurry down and fill out an application for your child to take part in a new summer program being offered by the San Juan Unified School District. “San Juan Reads” is a fresh new literacy program that is focused on improving the reading and writing skills of participating elementary school age students who are within the attendance boundaries of the San Juan School District.

Two Nominated San Juan School District Projects Win $7,500 Raley’s Reach Grants


Between the dates of April 21 and May 12, 2010, the community was invited to visit the Raley’s Reach website to vote for local school and community projects that would be dedicated to improving their neighborhood. Nearly 400 service projects and causes were accepted through nominations into the grant program, but ultimately only five projects would win a $7,500 grant from Raley’s. With over 210,000 logged votes over the three weeks, five project winners have been selected by the public to be presented with $7,500 each. Of the five winners, two projects came out on top from the San Juan Unified School District.

Thomas Kelly Elementary School in Carmichael to Celebrate 50th Anniversary


Thomas Kelly Elementary School would like to invite past and present students, staff and their families, as well as the entire Carmichael community to help them celebrate 50 years of wonderful memories and educational accomplishments. The school is very excited to invite everyone to their school’s site at 6301 Moraga Drive in Carmichael on Friday, May 21, officially beginning with a short dedication at 6:30PM and festivities ending at 8:30PM.
