Should Educators Kill the Lecture? Join the Discussion Tonight at 8:30EST/7:30CST
Everyone has experienced the lecture. Sometimes it comes from parents after a teenage mishap, other times from a well meaning friend, looking out for your best interests. It often goes one way in the classroom, though.
The teacher stands in front of the class, chalk in hand, dispensing information and helpful tips, while students are expected to take notes, process everything, and later apply it in essays and exams.
For some this works; the lecture viewed as tried and true in the education world. Others get little out of it, seeing the practice as archaic.
