Dallas school board president Lew Blackburn on Mayor Rawlings' involvement in superintendent search, which may wrap up next month
Yesterday, on the City Hall blog, Mayor Mike Rawlings acknowledged that he's been actively involved in the search for a new Dallas Independent School District superintendent, sending to the district's search firm a list of names given to him by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. Said Rawlings, "I asked him [Duncan] to make some recommendations for us to look at, since I'm not of an education background." Rawlings then handed those "four, five names" to PROACT, and one week from today, at a special meeting of the DISD board of trustees, the search firm will present its list of nine finalists.
