The Michigan Senate last week passed the Emergency Financial Manager Bill. It was the first legislation ever signed by first-term Governor Rick Snyder.
The bill has been hugely divisive, causing Michigan Senator John Conyers to question its constitutionality. Constituents in and out of Lansing are scratching their heads since the fiercely interventionalist policy is a hair on the Big Government side for a politician of Snyder’s ilk.
