RI ed chief expresses concern about charter school
PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Rhode Island's education commissioner is recommending only a one-year extension for a Providence charter school after expressing concerns about student performance.
Commissioner Deborah Gist tells The Providence Journal that she doesn't have much confidence in the Highlander Charter School because of subpar test scores and other problems. She's calling for the one-year extension rather than a five-year reauthorization.
