Is Teach for America worth $8 million?
A study released Tuesday was supposed to help state lawmakers decide whether the nonprofit Teach for America — which provides 1,000 teachers to Houston ISD and other Texas schools — is worth the state's $8 million investment. The report, prepared by the Education Research Center at the University of Texas at Dallas, didn't directly answer the question — researchers said data was limited and a full cost analysis would be unwieldy — but it does provide some insight.
