WASHINGTON – Education Secretary Arne Duncan predicted this morning that Texas eventually will get access to $830 million in federal aid that would help school districts avert layoffs.
"We're still negotiating" with state officials, he said, but "I'm very hopeful they will. There's a huge need there."

As Dallas Superintendent Michael Hinojosa attends meetings today that will help determine if he'll be chosen to lead schools in Las Vegas, some in the community feel that the process is being rushed -- and possibly will ask to see more candidates.
Hinojosa is a finalist for the superintendent job in the Clark County School District. He's competing against Colorado education
