The rich and powerful forces that have had their sights on teacher pensions did not take a day off since Quinn and Cross pulled the pension bill Thursday.
And neither can we.
And by “we,” I am talking about the network of activists, retired and active teachers, bloggers, Tweeters, those with long email lists, local presidents and troublemakers who led the grassroots movement to kill the bill.
As for the sleep-inducing leadership of the two state teacher unions? Give me a break.
Online petitions of thousands of Illinois teachers, their friends and families? Not from them.
Organizing protests at legislators’ home offices? Not their work.
Bus loads of members descending on Springfield? Haven’t you heard? There was construction in the Capitol
