PUBLIC WORKER PENSIONS – THE SOURCE OF ALL TROUBLE
I was surprised to see a Chicago Tribune editorial that was calling for a solution to the incredibly large caseloads of workers at the Department of Children and Family services. The editorial made a lot of sense, supported the workers, expressed how important the problem was, and seemed like a sincere effort to right a terrible wrong. Then I came to the end of the editorial which seemed to imply that the problem wouldn’t have become this bad had the State of Illinois not had to pay so much money into public worker pensions. Ah, so there it was, nothing more than a vehicle to once again slam public worker unions and public worker pensions.
