Dallas ISD blog: Transgender teen denied bid to become North Dallas High homecoming queen

A transgender student at North Dallas High School wants to be homecoming queen, but her principal suggested the 18-year-old run for king instead.

The senior student, Andy Moreno, appeared on KDFW-TV (Channel 4) Wednesday night, what's sure to be one of many TV appearances to come.

"The only people that have a problem with it is the administration," she said, telling Channel 4 that her parents and peers support her. "I do feel like I'm being harassed, and I feel like I'm being discriminated against."
