Teachers could be next to retire en masse

Dick Noble, 56, has taught and coached at Groveport Madison Junior High School for 35 years. He’ll retire this year because of pension changes.
The first wave of public-employee retirements struck during the past three months, a dash to the exits before changes to the state’s public pension systems took effect last week.
Another wave is expected, this time from teachers and other school staff members.
Changes in the teachers pension system will influence those who can retire this year to do so, said Ohio Education Association spokeswoman Michele Prater, and more baby boomers will be eligible.
