LAUSD unveils pared-back Adult Education offerings

Los Angeles Unified has finalized the class offerings for its resurrected Adult Education program, with scores of courses centered at about 60 campuses around the sprawling district.
The schedule has about half of the classes offered last year, but it's still a victory for the Division of Adult and Career Education, which was threatened with elimination because of the district's financial crisis.
An agreement by LAUSD's unions to take up to 10 unpaid days restored about $105 million for Adult Ed, enough to accommodate about 105,000 students.
To serve them, officials tried to create a balance of academic and vocational courses; basic skills, ESL and parenting classes; with a sprinkling of recreational and cultural programs for older adults.
"We're committed to our students, and tried to allocate our resources to meet demand," said DACE
