The Stories We Tell Ourselves
You have to admit, the power of myth and narrative is interesting. We have all of these stories we tell ourselves, and in the end the important thing to do, as Joseph Campbell used to say, is to "follow your bliss."
Which is why people tell themselves what they want to hear. For example, in one version of a particular story, this is a school that should be burned to the ground and have its students dispersed far and wide. The teachers at this school should be excoriated, flogged, and forced into public confessions.
