East Sacramento parents seek traditional high school amid district shake-up

Phil Pluckebaum's son went to Sutter Middle School, close to home in east Sacramento, but when it came time for high school, the parents packed their teenager in the car and made the 30-minute drive to Rosemont High School.
Now, Pluckebaum wonders where his next child will attend high school. He yearns for the days when Sacramento High was the natural choice for families in east Sacramento.
"When Sacramento High closed, they left the core of our city without a school," he said. "Now, there's a resurgence of people living in the urban core, and another generation of kids coming up, still without a high school in their neighborhoods."
