VINEGAR BALLS AND SPECIAL ED. TEACHERS
Another teacher in the news! You probably saw the news about the special education teacher who made her autistic kids put vinegar soaked cotton balls in their mouth as a form of discipline. Could we please stop putting these ridiculous reports on the network news ? It gives teacher-bashers more ammunition in their arsenal.
I will also make this plea to the universities that are preparing the new special education teachers, WILL YOU PLEASE TELL THESE PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS THAT THEY ARE GOING TO FACE THE MOST DIFFICULT JOB IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND ! I have seen so many special ed. teachers quit after one or two years. Many of them were wonderful human beings who wanted to help the children that needed the most help. Wonderful human beings who had NO IDEA the challenges they were going to face. It takes a very SPECIAL person to be able to meet the challenges of being a special ed. teacher.
