Candidate drops out of HISD District VIII race
Cheryl Moodie, one of six people who filed last month to run for the District VIII school board seat, has withdrawn from the race because she failed to meet the state mandate that candidates have lived in Texas for a full 12 months. Moodie, a consultant and former high-level hospitality executive, moved to a luxury highrise in Houston earlier this year from Louisiana. (Candidates must live in the district in which they are running for six months, and Moodie said she met that requirement.)
