Radio Ads Supporting Tom Torlakson for Superintendent of Public Instruction to Begin Airing
IE Committee of CTA, CFT and CSEA Asks Voters to Support Classroom Teacher, Education Advocate Torlakson on June 8th
SACRAMENTO – An independent expenditure committee called Torlakson for Superintendent of Public Instruction 2010 with funding from teachers, school employees, California Teachers Association Independent Expenditure Committee and California Federation of Teachers COPE today released two new radio ads supporting Tom Torlakson for Superintendent of Public Instruction.
“California educators want Californians to know that Tom Torlakson is by far the best choice to be our next Superintendent of Public Instruction,” said David Sanchez, president of the California Teachers Association. “He has been a classroom teacher, so he will make meeting the needs of students his top priority. For the sake of our schools, we ask voters to support Tom Torlakson for Superintendent of Public Instruction in the June 8th election.”
“The future of our student’s education is just too important – California needs Tom Torlakson as our next Superintendent of Public Instruction,” said Marty Hittelman, president of the California Federation of Teachers. “Voters will be impressed with Tom’s commitment to improving education in California and support him on June 8th.”
“Voters deserve to learn about Tom Torlakson’s commitment to meeting the needs of our children, reducing class sizes and making sure our schools are safe,” said Allan Clark, president of the California School Employees Association. “As a former teacher, we know Tom will do what is right for our schools as Superintendent of Public Instruction.”

Tom Torlakson is a candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction, who has taken his classroom experience as a science teacher to fight for our kids and schools. As a legislator, Tom Torlakson promoted successful preschool programs and fought to make schools safer.
And now he’s leading the fight to protect funding for smaller class sizes and to reduce the dropout rate. As Superintendent, Tom Torlakson wants quality neighborhood schools for all students. He wants to restore art and music - so kids get a well-rounded education. And he’ll make sure that school districts don’t waste precious dollars, but work to meet the highest of standards for students.
