"Members of the Sacramento Charter Review Committee, faced with too much remaining work and too little time, voiced readiness Monday night to let the panel sunset next month.
The committee was formed in February by City Council members opposed to Mayor Kevin Johnson's strong-mayor proposal on the June 2010 ballot. Committee members worked at an accelerated pace to review the existing charter. Early last month, they recommended changes, including a stronger mayor, but one with far less authority than proposed in Johnson's ballot measure.
In the end, the City Council chose not to draft its own competing measure for the ballot."
