All that one has to do to know that nothing has changed for the better at the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is to take note of the fact that the academic achievement of the vast majority of Latino and Black students, in a district that is close to 90% Latino and Black, has not only not changed for the better, it has significantly worsened. In light of the continuing abysmal results of schools like Dorsey and Crenshaw High Schools, an ex-LAUSD African American LAUSD administrator recently said to me, "Black schools were bad off before the Brown decision in 1954, but they were never this bad."
