Elementary school switches erasers to improve test scores

DENVER - In Kacey McCaslin's third grade class, her students are expected to utilize all the tools at their disposal to achieve success like markers, crayons, and magic erasers.
"The magic white erasers," McCaslin, a teacher at Lowry Elementary School in Denver, said.
For the first time, students taking the Transitional Colorado Assessment Program tests, or TCAPs, are given new, white, high-polymer erasers which McCaslin believes can improve their standardized test scores.
"They take off more of the lead," McCaslin said. "When the erase marks are less noticeable, then the test scores are going to reflect
