Houston’s NBC affiliate gives TX Legislature an F for education cuts
Jerry Martin, the General Manager of Houston’s NBC-TV affiliate, KPRC Channel 2, took to the airwaves today with a short, sweet, and hard-hitting editorial that took aim at the Texas Legislature for making the largest public education funding cuts in Texas history. After pointing out Texas’ changing demographics and low educational attainment, he asks “Can we really affford to be taking money away from the schools when they are more crowded than ever, teeming with the future leaders of our state and nation?”
“Remember, ” Martin continues, “these are the officials who decided not to dip into the State’s rainy day fund because we were not in a deep enough crisis.”
He closed by urging viewers to keep this year’s legislative actions “in mind next year when you’re casting your vote . . . Let your voice be heard.”
Whoa! It’s on.
