Sacramento school operator receives $6 million to open more charters

Aspire Public Schools, which operates two Sacramento charter schools, has received a windfall of financial support that will allow the public school system to open 15 new charters in California over the next five years.
The U.S. Department of Education awarded Aspire $6 million in grants, which comes on the heels of a $1 million donation from Oprah Winfrey two weeks ago. Aspire CEO James Willcox said expanding in Sacramento is a possibility, but it's still early in the process and locations statewide
