Sacramento school district asks for mediator in union talks
Sacramento City Unified School District lawyers filed an impasse application Thursday with the California Public Employment Relations Board in an attempt to resolve its ongoing conflict with its teachers union over negotiations.
The impasse application will be reviewed and, if approved, a third-party mediator will be assigned.
The district and Sacramento City Teachers Association last used a state mediator in 2003, when then-Assemblyman Darrell Steinberg helped resolve a stalemate.
