Oakland school sit-in raided after nearly three weeks

OAKLAND -- On Tuesday, nearly three weeks into a peaceful occupation of an elementary school that was closed last month, Oakland school district police cleared out the demonstrators in an early morning raid.
When police entered the Lakeview Elementary School grounds about 4 a.m., two children were among the 15 to 20 protesters, said Sgt. Barhin Bhatt. Bhatt said two people were cited and released at their request, including one of the lead organizers, Lakeview parent Joel Velasquez.
"No uses of force, no real conflict. It went extremely well, really," Bhatt said.
Teachers, parents and other supporters -- many part of the Occupy Oakland movement -- took up residence June 15, the last day of school. They
