It's hard to see how this language


Due to the actual negative effects that SB7 is currently having on many teachers, especially veteran teachers, we need to be proactive in its revision.


is anything other than the membership rejecting the happy talk around SB7.  It's Illinois' little contribution to the great awakening that's taking place around the country. I'm marginally less disheartened tonight. 

In other news, in the two hours since sunset, I have pretty much figured out how to do the entire opt-in back-home lobbying database with totally free tools. I'm pretty sure that in my spare time I could handle 2,000 members on my own. They would have to be people who already know which legislative and senate districts they live in-- but I think that's a good target audience. People who don't know these things would be unlikely to participate anyway.

Weirdly, while walking Scout tonight, I met another neighbor who was out walking her own dog. Turns out she's a 





Just Pointing Out...

...that this weird moment of hetero-hypernationalism occurred at the fundamentalist school where Illinois stateRepresentative Tom Morrison was a teacher. I believe that's him on the podium, to the right. It's the school where his mom and dad worked. I really liked the guy when I met him, but I don't for a moment kid myself that his voters would hesitate to stone me to death if given enough encouragement. (at 3:46)
