Board votes to reopen downtown's Washington Elementary
School closed due to budget cuts

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) —The board of education in Sacramento has voted to reopen Washington Elementary School for the 2016-2017 academic year.

The school in downtown Sacramento was one of seven campuses to close due to budget cuts years ago.
It was one of the most expensive to operate and had some of the worst attendance levels in the Sacramento City Unified School District.
But demand has changed in the area.
The vote to reopen the school was unanimous
