Tacoma teachers defy judge, stay on picket line
Tacoma teachers defied a judge's order to return to teaching and instead returned to picket lines Thursday morning. The next step likely will be a compliance hearing on Friday.

Their decision violates Judge Bryan Chushcoff's order, issued on September 14, whereby teachers were required to return to work, and for all parties to continue to negotiate and bargain in good faith.
"Tacoma teachers will be waiting at their picket locations awaiting further informations around negotiations," said Adrienne Dale, said Tacoma Education Association (TEA) Vice President.
By 7:30 a.m., the Tacoma Public Schools had canceled classes for the day.
The news that the strike would continue was frustrating for many parents.
