University of Texas education chair summoned to Washington meeting

University of Texas Department of Educational Administration Chair Dr. Walter Bumphus has been asked to participate in a White House Summit on Community Colleges.
The event, chaired by Second Lady Jill Biden, begins Tuesday and includes federal and state policymakers and leaders in business, philanthropy and education. President Obama asked Dr. Biden to convene the first-ever event to highlight the critical role community colleges play in developing America’s workforce.
Bumphus, who has been with The University of Texas since 2007, was recently elected president/CEO of the American Association of Community Colleges and will take that position next January. UT's
