Rick Perry’s “Ultimate Justice” or Why Words Matter
There’s been a lot of talk about Rick Perry’s stance on the death penalty. He expressed his opinions on it during the recent presidential debate. The entire transcript of the debate can be found here. Some people were appalled that the audience applauded when the moderator mentioned that Rick Perry put 234 people to death. Other people noticed Rick Perry never lost sleep over putting that many people to death. Mind you, both of these points are valid. Rick Perry should be losing some sleep over some of the people that have been put to death on his watch. Cameron Todd Williamson was put to death in 2004 despite strong evidence that proved his innocence. This execution and Rick Perry’s role in it are still under investigation. It’s inhumane to applaud
