DECLARE A STATE OF EMERGENCY ON SCHOOL FINANCES

It’s time for the federal, state, and local governments to declare a state of emergency on school finances. While we are in this economic downturn we need to take steps to prevent these ridiculous cutbacks in education.

The government needs to start selling “education bonds”. The bonds would be similar to what were sold as ”war bonds” during World War II. The government should ask all entertainers to contribute the proceeds from at least one concert or movie to a school district that is in financial distress. Sports stars and others in entertainment should be asked to step up just like many of their predecessors did in previous wars. We need an attitude that it is everyone’s patriotic duty to support education just like it was to support the last great war. We are in a war here, a war to save the nation from all these cuts in education. Everyone talks about how education is the number one priority, so let’s see some proof of that.
