Whole Child Network Schools Embark on a New Adventure

Whole Child Network of Schools
The 10 schools from across the continental United States and Guam chosen to participate in ASCD's Whole Child Network kicked off their efforts last week with ASCD in Alexandria, Va. The schools chosen to participate in the Whole Child Network have committed to a comprehensive school improvement process using the tenets of the Whole Child Initiative—healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged—and theirindicators (PDF) as a sustainable whole child approach to educating participating schools' students.

  • Drew-Freeman Middle School of the Prince George's County Public Schools in Suitland, Md., which serves grade levels 7 and 8.
  • Finegayan Elementary School in Dededo, Guam, of the Guam Department of Education, which provides Head Start and serves grade levels K–5.
