State Senator Cowles indicates he is Interested in Compromise on Budget Repair Bill
Reports that Senator Cowles has indicated he would vote no on the budget repair bill have been denied by his chief of staff. But, Senator Cowles has indicated an interest in compromise. He was quoted in the Green Bay Press Gazette Monday saying:
“The important part is the monetary concessions. That’s the part that helps balance the budget. The other things are less monetary in nature… It’s the challenge of the senate to go through those and find a conclusion on items that have little or no connection to finance.
You have to be flexible because some way, some how there will be an amendment modifying the collective bargaining… It’s an incredible situation (the Democrats leaving) that none of us ever thought would happen. So negotiations on this are critical to move past this and move on to the budget, which also has a number of dilemmas.”
