How goes today's planned sickout in DISD?

Today is the day for the planned sickout announced last month by an anonymous Dallas ISD teacher. The teacher, known as "Mr. Jones," has implored his colleagues on his blog to call in sick today (Leap Day) to protest a decision by DISD trustees to extend the teacher workday by 45 minutes with no increase in pay. Over the weekend, Mr. Jones voiced frustration to WFAA (Channel 8) and on his blog, Teachers for Change, at what he perceives as a lack of support by teachers. He claims they "are giving in to the fear" and not planning to participate. Under state law, teachers are not allowed to participate in strikes or organized work stoppages. The Alliance-AFT teachers association has not supported the sickout. DISD has released no official position
