There’s always so much talk about what can we do to replace the high stakes standardized tests. I am so tired of hearing the same old conversation about what might replace this disastrous policy. Yet, once again, a school proves that children can be motivated, inspired and ready to learn by introducing them to the arts.
There are so many healthy alternatives to mindless testing but until more school boards, parents and students DEMAND their taxpayer dollars stop going to the testing industrial garbage dump and high stakes is totally removed from the entire discussion, conversation and policy, the immoral criminal behavior that is destroying the souls of our nation’s children, will continue unabated.
Tragically, the dysfunction in Congress in not being able to pass sane legislation on gun control, infrastructure spending, rational tax reform while cutting health care and food for the most vulnerable, is connected to the past 30 of dumbing down and narrowing the curriculum and exacerbated by NCLB and RttT.
