Wisconsin teachers union calls for day off statewide to protest in Madison

Education union leaders in central Wisconsin organized a push Wednesday night to get public school teachers to Madison for a demonstration to oppose a proposal that would bar public employees from collective bargaining.

Republican Gov. Scott Walker introduced a bill last week that would restrict public workers' collective bargaining rights to salaries only. The measure has prompted a massive protest at the state Capitol.
