LEBRON LEARNS TEACHING AT-RISK STUDENTS IS A LOT HARDER THAN MOST PEOPLE THINK
LeBron James, the NBA superstar, is known for his incredible skills on the court. But did you know that he's also a philanthropist? That's right, he's been working to transform the lives of at-risk students and parents in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. And he's doing it with the I Promise School.
The I Promise School opened in 2018 as a part of the Akron Public Schools system. It was a noble effort by LeBron to give back to his community. But, as it turns out, the school has been struggling with some pretty low test scores.
According to a report from the Akron Beacon Journal, the fall class of eighth-grade students at the I Promise School produced passing scores for Ohio's math test. And when we say "produced passing scores," we mean they didn't pass. In fact, they haven't passed since they were in third grade.
One Akron Public Schools official described the test results as "discouraging." But don't worry, the I Promise School is here for the ups and downs. And if there's one thing we know about LeBron, it's that he never gives up.
So, what's the plan to turn things around at the I Promise School? Well, we're not exactly sure. But we have a feeling LeBron has something up his sleeve. Maybe he'll bring in some basketball coaches to teach math? Or maybe he'll start using basketballs instead of pencils? Who knows!
One thing is for sure, though. The I Promise School is in good hands with LeBron James. He's proven time and time again that he's a winner both on and off the court. And we have no doubt that he'll do whatever it takes to help these students succeed.
So, keep your head up, I Promise School. LeBron's got your back. And who knows, maybe one day you'll be producing passing scores in math AND basketball. Now wouldn't that be something?
