Elected officials join parents, teachers and principals to deliver more than 1,300 petition signatures to DePaul University to demand that it directs all proceeds from the sale of the new South Loop basketball stadium’s naming rights  to CPS. DePaul, a private university, received more than $55 million in public tax increment financing support for the construction of the arena. Last week, DePaul announced it had sold the naming rights to the stadium to Wintrust Bank for a profit of a currently unknown sum.
“DePaul has benefited from millions in subsidies in taxpayer dollars at the expense of our public schools and other public institutions that were already starved for resources,” said Wozniak. “It’s time for DePaul to do the right thing and help ensure our schools have the resources they need to educate Chicago kids. DePaul’s board of trustees should give alumni like me something to be proud of, and move to direct all profits from the naming rights sale to CPS.” Some fight back news that came across my desk. | Fred Klonsky:
