UNPROFESSIONAL, CONFRONTATIONAL WORDS

One of my prestigious “Golden Chalk Awards” goes out to the Chicago Teachers’ Union Vice President Jesse Sharkey.  The union and other supporters held a protest demonstration in Chicago this past Tuesday. They were protesting the planned closings of Chicago public schools and also the money that  was being taken from those schools and being given to charter schools.
Jesse Sharkey addressed the protesters and what he said was very unprofessional and confrontational. His words were definitely not those of the typical teacher leader. Here is what he said: “We’re here to serve notice to the appointed (school) board that if you close our schools, we’re coming after you. We’re serving notice to billionaires hoping to close our schools, if you close our schools, we’ll expose you.  And we’re serving notice to elected officials, if you close our schools, there will be no peace in the city.”
Wow! That is so unprofessional, so un-teacher like, so radical compared to the normal tepid language that
