"LIE TO ME: THE MIDTERM REPRISE"

A Satirical Parody Article — The MAGA Memorial Choir Takes the Stage

WASHINGTON D.C. (The Parodist Press) — November 2, 2026

On the eve of yet another midterm election, in a venue that sources describe only as "a ballroom that definitely seats more people than it looks like," the MAGA Memorial Choir assembled in full regalia — red robes, gold-fringed sashes, and hats so large they required their own zip codes — to deliver what their press release called "the most important musical performance in the history of music, possibly ever, some people are saying."

The setlist? One song. Forty-five minutes long. Performed three times.

"Lie to Me: The Midterm Reprise."

APOLOGIES TO JONNY LANG'S CLASSIC 'LIE TO ME'

The Performance

The evening opened with a twelve-minute organ prelude during which the choir stood motionless, staring into the middle distance with the practiced serenity of people who have fully committed to a bit. Then, on cue from a conductor wearing a trucker hat embroidered with the words "TRUST THE VIBE," they launched into their updated anthem.

The lyrics, obtained exclusively by this reporter from a crumpled napkin backstage, read as follows:

"LIE TO ME (The Midterm Reprise)" Performed by The MAGA Memorial Choir Arranged for full organ, kazoo section, and aggressive tambourine

(Verse 1)

Lie to me, And tell me every poll is fake news, Lie to me, Say we're winning in the blues, Tell me that the base is fired, That the mainstream media's a liar, That everything, everything the exit polls say — just isn't true!

(Chorus)

Lie to me! (Go ahead!) Tell us what we need to hear tonight! Lie to me! (Come on now!) Say the red wave's cresting, looking bright! Lie to me! (Ooooh!) Grift a little longer, just two more years! Lie to me! Drown the inconvenient truth in cheers!

(Verse 2)

Lie to me, The dirty tricks are working fine, Lie to me, We've got the lawyers on the line, If the numbers start to fall, We'll just say we won it all, For just a little while, won'tcha, Won'tcha keep the Big Lie alive, yeah!

(Bridge — spoken word, over dramatic organ swell)

"Now, some people — very smart people, tremendous people — they're saying the polls are wrong. And maybe they are. And maybe they aren't. But here's what I know: if we believe hard enough, if we clap loud enough, if we send enough money to the legal defense fund — and I'm talking the REAL legal defense fund, not the fake one, although that one also accepts donations — then reality itself will have no choice but to comply."

(Choir hums affirmingly)

(Final Chorus — key change, full gospel mode)

Lie to me! (Hallelujah!) Sprout those exit poll fantasies! Lie to me! (Come on choir!) Spin the narrative with expertise! Lie to me! (Never stop!) The grift must flow another day! Lie to me! Reality is just too far away!

(Outro — fade on choir belts, kazoo solo, and the sound of someone filing a lawsuit)

Backstage Reaction

Backstage, choir director Biff Credulous told reporters the performance was "flawless, maybe the best choir performance ever recorded in human history, and I'm including the Sistine Chapel."

When asked about the polls showing a difficult night ahead, Credulous waved dismissively.

"Polls are conducted by people," he explained, "and people are biased. Numbers are biased. Math, frankly, has always had a liberal slant."

A spokesperson for Mathematics could not be reached for comment, as Mathematics does not have a spokesperson, being an abstract discipline. This was described by choir members as "very suspicious."

The Numbers They'd Prefer You Ignore

Here's a handy guide to how the Choir interprets electoral data:

What the Data ShowsOfficial Choir Translation
Polling down 8 points"Fake polls, we're actually up bigly"
Turnout models unfavorable"The models are woke"
Early voting trends negative"Those votes don't count yet"
Legal challenges failing"The REAL judges haven't ruled"
Donors pulling back"They're just being strategic"
Losing on election night"Stop the count / count every vote" (delete as applicable)

The Deeper Satirical Truth

What makes the MAGA Memorial Choir's performance genuinely fascinating — in the way that a slow-motion train derailment is fascinating — is its almost operatic commitment to the comfort of the familiar lie over the discomfort of an uncertain truth.

Every chorus is a negotiation with reality. Every key change is a fresh attempt to outrun the data. And the outro — that long, kazoo-laden fade — is the sound of a movement that has mistaken volume for validity and repetition for proof.

The choir will perform again tomorrow night, whatever the results.

They always do.
