Per student, the multi-year rollout runs $120 to $180 per K–3 child in most states — or, if you live in California, a breezy $700 to $900+ per student under the state's Literacy Coaches and Reading Specialists (LCRS) grant program, which has allocated over $1.2 billion cumulatively and sends minimum grants of $450,000 per school site directly to local districts where, in some cases, coaches end up doing substitute teaching and administrative filing.

The curriculum publishers got paid. The Ask: Simple, Reasonable, Overdue
We are not saying the Science of Reading is wrong. We are saying that right is not the same as sufficient, and evidence-based is not the same as guaranteed.
