Government programs, news reports, and television commercials stress the need for more students to study STEM fields. But, how about the other disciplines that need their share of talented graduates? Does the pressure for some students to study STEM subjects come at the expense of their true passions?
Fresh from the USA Science and Engineering Festival and looking forward to the college decision date, students will discuss whether their voice is being heard in the push into STEM. Is the STEM push top-down, or are students aligned with the apparent need for more STEM graduates? What role do students themselves play in increasing the interest of today’s youth in STEM fields?
