Perdido Street School:

Two More Unions Endorse De Blasio
Is there any chance the UFT doesn't jump from Thompson with all these other unions getting behind de Blasio?More labor supporters of Christine Quinn’s defeated mayoral campaign are jumping over to Bill de Blasio’s bid for City Hall. The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union and United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500 have joined SEIU 32BJ in endorsing Mr. de Blasio, sending a no

Unions Start To Ditch Thompson
Another sign that de Blasio will be the nominee and Thompson is finished:The executive board of 32Bj voted tonight to endorse Public Advocate Bill de Blasio in the Democratic primary for mayor, dealing a serious blow to Bill Thompson, who is still holding out hope for a runoff. The union had previously backed Council Speaker Christine Quinn, a distant third place finisher in the race. “The executi

Betting That Bill Thompson Is Already Finished
His co-chair, Merryl Tisch, said she doesn't think there's "much appetite" for a bloody intramural war within the Democratic Party in the next few weeks to see who emerges to take on Joe Lhota in the general election.Tisch also said she thought de Blasio had won a "clear victory" and “will ultimately emerge as the nominee of the Democratic party.”A few pundits on Twitter seem t

De Blasio Adds To Vote Total - Now At 40.3%
99% of the vote counted, De Blasio has 260,384 votes (good for 40.3%) while Bill Thompson has 169,423 votes (good for 26.2%).De Blasio had 90,518 more votes than Thompson as of 7:15 AM.He now has 90,961 more votes than Thompson as of 5:00 PM.Where are these extra votes coming from?It seems some of the minor candidates garnered higher vote totals than expected last night and some of those discrepan

NY Times: Merryl Tisch Seems To Be Bailing On Thompson
Bill Thompson said last night he will not concede the Democratic primary for mayor until all votes are counted. He reiterated that stance today. But the NY Times reports some of his prominent supporters may already be pulling away from him:Even as Mr. Thompson was expressing confidence in public, some of his campaign’s closet advisers seemed to be moving away from his candidacy.Merryl H. Tisch, the

Thompson Has Lower Percentage Than Weiner Had In 2005 When He Didn't Force A Runoff
Thompson will have lower percentage of vote than Weiner in 2005 (26% v 29%). If BDB come close (39%+) does WT engage in runoff bloodbath?— Douglas Muzzio (@musingmuttering) September 11, 2013Weiner decided not to force a runoff.Thompson, however, sounds like he's still thinking about going there: But Mr. Thompson, addressing his supporters at a Midtown Manhattan hotel, vowed to continue his campai

YESTERDAY

Okay, Calling It A Night
So here we are, at 12:39 AM. De Blasio has 40.19%.Thompson has 26.05%Back in 2005, Ferrer got 40.15%.Weiner did the right thing and said no runoff. If these numbers stay close to what they are tonight after the final 3% is counted, plus the absentees, what does Thompson do?Still some to go in the count, but that's the question I end the night on...
97% Counted - De Blasio At 40.2%
Dunno, how high would this have to go for Thompson to concede?I'm guessing pretty damned high.

Going to be very, very sleepy in the morning...
