Legislature approves ACCJC audit


The Joint Legislature Audit Committee approved an audit on Wednesday to analyze the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, states a news release.
The audit was requested by Sen. Jim Beall, D-San Jose, and Sen. Jim Nielsen, R-Gerber. It is meant to look into how the actions taken by the commission affect campuses’ finances and programs, states the new release issues by Beall.
“The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges virtually operates unfettered with little to no oversight,’’ Beall said in the release. “Yet its decisions have a direct impact on the world’s biggest system of higher education with over 2 million students.”
