Indiana Governor Mike Pence Signs Common Core Pause Legislation | Truth in American Education:



May 13th Hearing for Missouri Common Core Pause Bill

We would like to encourage residents of Missouri to attend the legislative hearing on Education, in particular bill SB 210 this coming Monday, May 13th from 12:00p – 2:00p in hearing room 6 in the Missouri State Capitol building.
This bill is similar to the one that was just signed into law in Indiana today.  It would require the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to hold public hearings and then issue a report to the legislature.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence Signs Common Core Pause Legislation

Today Indiana Governor Mike Pence signed the Common Core pause legislation that requires the Indiana State Board of Education to hold public hearings on the Common Core State Standards in each of Indiana's congressional districts and have a fiscal impact study completed by 2014.
“I have long believed that education is a state and local function and we must always work to ensure that our students are being taught to the highest academic standards and that our curriculum is developed by Hoosiers, for Hoosiers,” Pence said in a released statement. “The legislation I sign today hits the pause button on Common Core so Hoosiers can thoroughly evaluate which standards will best serve the interests of our kids.’’
