Opt Out of High Stakes Testing

Dear friends and colleagues,

Thank you once again for supporting the Massachusetts Statement Against High-Stakes Testing. We wanted you to know that on February 19th, we sent out this press release to the MA Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, as well as to state and national media outlets, education reporters, and blogs.  The media attention has been fantastic, including a story in the Boston Globe.  You can find a sampling of the coverage here.

With media and blog attention, we expect that the list will grow (note: we're up to 145 endorsers). If you can continue to spread the word among friends and colleagues, that will help us make the biggest statement possible and get the attention of those who can make the changes we seek.

And for those of you who haven't seen it yet, Ken Bernstein's "Warnings from the Trenches", a letter to college professors from a high school teacher, has caused quite a stir. We thought you might be interested.  Here's an article from Inside Higher Education about Bernstein's piece and the response he's gotten from professors around the country.
