WHAT PART OF “COMPROMISE” DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND ? « Teachers Fight Back:

WHAT PART OF “COMPROMISE” DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND ?

Just saw an opinion column by an Illinois retired teacher who was offering suggestions for a “pension compromise”.  In the column the teacher wrote about a higher retirement age, a lower cost of living adjustment, an increased contribution and a few other suggestions. None of the other suggestions had anything to do with the General Assembly raising money to replace what was taken from the Teachers’ Pension over the years. I’ve seen proposals from other teachers and union leaders that are very similar. Where is the COMPROMISE in these suggestions ?
My fellow teachers, are you that clueless about what caused the Teachers’ Pension part of the “pension crisis” ?  YOUR MONEY WAS STOLEN BY LEGISLATORS OVER A PERIOD OF MANY YEARS!  Don’t you understand that ? A real “compromise” would be one in which teachers give up something and legislators agree on ways to restore some of the stolen money. I haven’t seen one suggestion from teacher unions or anyone else
