The campaign to bring charter schools to Washington has now raised $10.8 million in cash contributions.
According to filings posted with the Public Disclosure Commission on Tuesday, those donations to Yes on 1240 includes another $1.5 million from Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, which was reported as a pledge in the campaign's previous report.
The biggest donor to the campaign is Allen's friend and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.
Two groups are working to defeat the initiative. According to the Public Disclosure Commission, a group called People for Our Public Schools has now raised nearly $400,000 in cash. Another group, called No on 1240, has raised over $10,000 in cash.
