I asked Bob Haisman, former president of the IEA, why teachers in Illinois should care about and be involved with the Kathleen Falk campaign in Wisconsin. Falk is running in the Democratic primary for governor, and she was a major player in organizing the 1m signatures that recalled the odious Scott Walker. This is what he had to say (over the background noise):



 Kathleen Falk is a candidate who talks about labor and public education as if those things were not the root of all evil in our society. If she wins, it will be a watershed moment for those of us who are pushing back against the toxic Koch-Broad-Rhee-Duncan-Emanuel axis that has somehow taken root in the Democratic party. Mind you, the mayor of Milwaukee just jumped into the race, even though he's already running for re-election in Milwaukee, and he's been defeated before as a gubernatorial candidate, and his involvement in the recall petition
