The State Budget Choice: Public or Private Sector Jobs?

The 2010 edition of The Fiscal Survey of the States was jointly released today by the National Governors Association and the National Association of State Budget Officers. Filled with black-and-white government revenue and expenditure tables, this report shows short- and long-term snapshots of state budget trends across the nation.
Of particular interest is Table 3, which tells us that governers are ready to begin rebounding their general funds after two years of deep, painful, contentious cuts. According to the report, governors’ proposed FY2011 budgets total $635.3 billion—3.6% more than FY2010, but still 7.6% below the golden days
